Spiny White Orchid Tree (The Lakeland Ledger)
One of several small, white-flowered Bauhinia species, spiny white orchid tree (B. aculeata) is a South American shrub or small tree up to 15 feet tall. Cold hardy in Central Florida, this semi-deciduous plant bears 3-inch to 6-inch blossoms in spring and summer. Plants installed now on sunny, well-drained sites will bloom in about four months.
